Cycling has become an addiction!

More than a year ago Tamara Prooij opted for an electric cargo bike. To her own surprise, she has already covered 1,200 km with it. Her 1.5 year old son is also a big fan. “Sometimes we can’t find him. At that point he is already playing hide-and-seek in the cargo bike. Ready for the next ride.” Tamara did not buy the bicycle, but ordered it through her employer's bike plan offered by Lease a Bike. “The costs are much lower this way. I pay about half thanks to the tax benefits.”

While the electric cargo bike has become an integral part of traffic in big cities, it is not as commonly seen in small towns like Goeree-Overflakkee. Tamara Prooij's cargo bike is still a real attraction on the South Holland island. “When I drive home over the dike past the hotel, the people on the terrace always turn their heads,” she says enthusiastically. At the same time, she notices that more people have interests in the practicality of the cargo bike. “In the neighborhood where I live, I have already counted 3 parents with cargo bikes just like me.”

Tamara uses the cargo bike every day. No matter what kind of weather it is, she takes her child to daycare. She also does her shopping by bike and regularly rides to the beach, a few kilometers from her home. “Everything fits and I always have a parking space”. One of her favorite activities with the cargo bike is getting fresh eggs early in the morning 20 minutes away. She says that the electric cargo bike in most cases replaces the car. “I recently saw that I had already cycled 1,200 kilometers in one year. I never did that before. Bike riding has really become an addiction.”

Tamara has been using her fully equipped cargo bike for a year now: it has a doubled battery capacity, a bench, special attachments for a child and toddler seat, a tent against the rain and even its own door. Her 1.5 year old son loves it all. “When we cycle away, he is laughing out loud for the first 5 minutes.”
